The Golf Course

The Titahi Golf course is a links type of course that plays at 5133 metres for men and 5000 meters for women. The course is a challenging hill-side course that requires a wide-range of special shot making abilities to negotiate some tuff lies. To play this course successfully, the player must be able to hit the ball straight to avoid the hazards or playing from difficult lies.

There are some reward and risk holes that will provide you with good scores if successful.

The 1st hole has out of bounds to the right with sloping fairways to be negotiated whilst the 2nd hole requires the player to drive over a stream from the tee with a 2 x tier green to be negotiated.

From the 3rd, if you are able to get your tee to the top of the hill, you will have a good view of the green, but get it wrong and their is a steep bank in front of the green which penalises the player if your approach shot is too short.

The 4th hole is a hilly fairway and the landing spot from the tee on the flat area 135metres out is the target. Short to medium iron approach shot is required to a large green.

On the 5th, the first of the new holes requires an accurate tee shot to avoid the long rough to the right or finding yourself behind trees on the left. If you hit your tee short, you are hitting your 2nd shot to the green blind and if you are long, you will find the out of bounds behind the green.

The 6th hole is the second of the new holes which is a par 3 that requires an accurate tee shot and wind conditions will determine the club used. A long shot could find trouble, and a sloping green requires careful putting to avoid a 3-putt.

The 7th hole is a drivable par 4 for the low handicappers which is protected on the left with pine trees and steep bank with heavy rough. On the right also is a regular catchment area for the inaccurate long tee shot.

The 8th hole is one of the harder holes on the course and requires a long shot to the green. Prevailing winds from the right have to be taken into consideration. A par is a great score on this hole.

The 9th is the last of the three course changes made in 2012. An uphill par 4 requires an accurate drive to reach the fairway and can be difficult in southerly wind conditions. A two tier green requires you to be on the correct tier or a three putt could eventuate. Out of bounds runs alongside the right hand side of this hole.

Now you have been around the front 9 holes, get ready to go again – enjoy.
